Tonari no Seki-kun was a pretty fun little show. The episodes were 7 minutes long and so the jokes didn’t even get the chance to overstay their welcome. And the skits were fairly consistent in terms of how much I liked them, unlike most sketch comedies I’ve seen. There were some scenes in the later episodes that maybe weren’t as interesting as the rest of the show, but overall it was a good experience.
And it was only made better by its OP and ED, both of which were catchy, as well as the art style. The art was simplistic but it looked good in a pretty unique way, and the character designs were really cute. My favourite thing about the show, however, was probably the fact that due to the eponymous Seki-kun being a mostly silent character, the vast majority of the dialogue in the show was actually a monologue by Kana Hanazawa, who voiced the other main character Rumi Yokoi. I’m not the biggest fan of Hanakana, but I do think she’s a great actress, and she had the opportunity to really show it in Tonari no Seki-kun. Which she did. It was just a joy to listen to.

I really enjoy this show in small doses (one or two episodes at a time). Anymore than that and it becomes a bit repetitive, however each episode is kind of interesting in its own way and a lot of it is genuinely amusing.
